A bevy of stars will work their way to Branson next month to take part in a concert to honor veterans of the Vietnam War era.
Operation Homecoming Branson, the company that is organizing “Welcome Home 2006,” announced Wednesday a list of performers who will take part in the Heartland Benefit Concert June 17 and 18.
The performers include The Bellamy Brothers, Collin Raye, Chely Wright, Paulette Carlson, John Conlee and Johnny Lee, as well as Branson performers Mickey Gilley, Moe Bandy Doug Gabriel, Dalena Ditto, Amanda, Brandi Noelle and The Boyle Brothers.
The concert will also include special guest appearances by actor/singer Rex Smith, actress/singer Chris Noel, The Liverpool Legends, Shawna Stratton and Chrissy Fortner.
According to officials, proceeds from the concert will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, Operation Troop Aid and the Branson Veterans Task Force. Officials plan to announce more artists in the future.
Welcome Home 2006 will begin June 11 with a dedication ceremony of a traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall at the Mansion America Theatre. Several events that tentatively will occur during the week include a fishing tournament, a golf outing, a Native American Powwow, a Sky Soldiers Air Assault demonstration, helicopter rides, an American Patriotism Awards ceremony, and, finally, the Heartland Benefit Concert.
A similar event held last year attracted approximately 35,000 veterans and their families, according to officials.
