Darren Romeo was honored for his exceptional contributions to magic and performance by The Society of American Magicians (S.A.M.) on Wednesday evening at the
Welk Resort Theatre in Branson. National President John Apperson presented a S.A.M. Presidential Citation for Outstanding Achievement to Darren Romeo, The Voice of Magic and protègè of Magicians of the Century Siegfried & Roy.
The Society of American Magicians is the oldest and most prestigious magical society in the world. Founded on May 10, 1902, in New York City, the society promotes the Art of Magic and ideals shared by Kellar, Houdini, Thurston and over 30,000 others world-wide who have held membership in the society. The group currently has over 7,000 members in 250 ìAssembliesî throughout the United States and in Australia, Austria, Canada, England, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico and Singapore.
Siegfried & Roy Present Darren Romeo, The Voice of Magic, premiered in August 2002 at The Mirage Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The International Magicians Society bestowed Romeo with the prestigious Merlin Award for “Entertainer of the Year 2002,” a special award acknowledging Romeo’s dedication to magic and incredible singing voice.
Darren Romeo’s 2004 limited engagement at the Welk Resort Theatre concludes this week with 8 p.m. performances on Thursday and Friday plus Saturday shows at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
